How did the recession impact the Latino population?
Between 2009 and 2011, all ethnic and racial groups (as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau) saw some increase in employment from the lowest point of the recession. Employment figures rose by 2.3 percent, but among Latinos the same figures rose 6.5 percent. The Pew Center reported that the wealth gap between whites and Latinos widened during the recession. Even so, Latinos were more upbeat about the economy than whites, predicting that the recession would end sooner. [Source]
