“I went all over the country, talking and photographing these people. Many of their stories were so unexpected. This is Peter Gerica down in Louisiana, who lost everything in Katrina and then lost everything again with the BP oil spill. He wanted this term — everybody comes up with their own terms — because he felt it was important to actually explain what sustainability is.”
