5) SEC REGULATION
The Securities and Exchange Commission has the power to issue a rule requiring publicly traded corporations to disclose their political spending. According to Ian Vandewalker of the Brennan Center for Justice, the SEC is “poised to consider a petition for rulemaking submitted by 10 experts in corporate and securities law, asking the agency to require publicly traded companies to disclose their political spending.”
