The Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund, the Anti-Rove PAC
Angered by Karl Rove’s Conservative Victory Project, a coalition of Tea Party groups formed its own super PAC earlier this week. Jenny Beth Martin, the coalition’s founder, told The Hill that the Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund “will be active in House and Senate races in 2014, largely through providing organizational support to help get out the conservative vote.” “[Opposing Rove] wasn’t our sole intention, but if we’re forced to do that we understand that our first battle is the Republican establishment,” Martin said. Former one-term Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) also announced via Twitter on Feb. 5 that he’s “filing the paperwork to form a super PAC to support freedom-loving conservative alternatives to Karl Rove.” — though as of Feb. 14, FEC records do not indicate that he has in fact filed. |
