Simon Ortiz
Simon Ortiz is a leading figure in the Native American literary renaissance of the 1960s. Born and raised near Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ortiz is a member of the Acoma Pueblo Indian tribe and grew up speaking the native language. In 1982, Ortiz won a Pushcart Prize for From Sand Creek. He’s perhaps best known for the spiritual autobiography Woven Stone (1992). |
