John Lewis Steps Back Into History

In a clip of this special Moyers & Company episode exploring the momentous August 1963 March on Washington, Bill Moyers and Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) walk to the spot in front of the Lincoln Memorial where Lewis, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. and others spoke. While there, Moyers and Lewis attract a curious crowd of children and adults, and end up conducting a spontaneous lesson in civil rights history.

“It was good to be in the presence of Lincoln. I felt very honored to be there on that day 50 years ago,” Lewis tells Bill and the gathering spectators and tourists. “And I feel honored to have an opportunity to come here almost 50 years later.”
