Fifty years after the 19^th (the Suffrage) Amendment had passed, tens of thousands of American women abandoned their husbands, their desks, their typewriters and their waitress stations to march down the avenues in a number of cities to press for a new set of issues.

There are reasons to celebrate, but there's still work to be done in areas such as pay equality, reproductive rights, voting rights and personal safety.
