The Issue: Veterans

The Initiative: Hashtags4heroes is an innovative and fun way to raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) and injured service members using Twitter.

Background: The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is an organization whose mission is to honor and empower wounded veterans. They run programs that help veterans to continue their education, find jobs, maximize their rehabilitation and pursue life goals without the barriers or stigmas associated with mental health issues.

Every time you tweet during May 2012, the Hashtags4Heroes application will autofill any unused Twitter characters with messages that help the Wounded Warrior Project spread the word about critical programs and services. (via Mashable)

Here’s an example of a tweet we sent out today using the Hashtags4Heroes website.
