In statehouses around the country, hundreds of ALEC “model laws” are proposed or enacted that would, among other things, dilute collective bargaining rights, make it harder for some Americans to vote and limit corporate liability for harm caused to consumers.

ALEC claims that nearly 2,000 state legislators are members, but doesn’t disclose their names. Here’s where you come in. The Center for Media and Democracy, on their ALEC Exposed site, has a list of nearly 1,000 legislators they believe to be ALEC members, but we need your help updating and adding the names of members not on their list.

Here are the three steps you can take to help us.

1) Enter your address in our interactive map and find out.
2) If your representative is not listed, use the directory to call their office and ask them.
3) Complete our form or email us what you find out about your representative.

I’m wondering if organizations like ALEC are operating in Canada? I can’t imagine that there isn’t something equivalent here and I’d like to know the extent of their involvement in Canadian politics.
