Anthony Baxter

Filmmaker

Anthony Baxter is a British journalist and filmmaker whose most recent achievement is his award-winning documentary You’ve Been Trumped.  The film chronicles celebrity billionaire Donald Trump’s quest to build “the greatest golf course in the world” on one of Scotland’s last environmentally-sensitive stretches of wilderness.  Through the documentary, Baxter reveals what happens when capitalism runs amok, as local residents of the northeastern coast of Scotland struggle against the corrupting influence of money and power to preserve the ancient dunes among which they live.

In 2005, Baxter founded Montrose Pictures, a production company based in the Scottish coastal town where his family goes back several generations. Prior to that, he spent 15 years in Birmingham, London and Edinburgh, reporting news and making documentaries for networks including the BBC and ITN. Baxter’s career in reporting and filmmaking has led him to countries across the world, including Afghanistan and Pakistan. In addition to his journalistic work, Baxter has conducted camera and editing workshops in the UK and the developing world.
