Status: Awaiting Senate approval vote.

Anthony Foxx is the mayor of Charlotte, N.C. During his tenure, he extended Charlotte’s light rail system. He is also deputy general counsel for DesignLine, a Charlotte-based maker of hybrid and electric buses, but if confirmed, he would leave that job. Foxx, at 42, would be the youngest cabinet secretary of the Obama administration.

According to The Associated Press, at his May 22 confirmation hearing, Foxx received a “friendly reception from senators of both parties.”
