“Radical Feminist Nun” Simone Campbell on the Colbert Report

In case you missed it, here’s Sister Simone Campbell discussing the Nuns on the Bus tour on The Colbert Report last week. In the interview, Campbell also responds to recent criticism from the Vatican which singled out her organization, NETWORK, for focusing too much on poverty, while keeping “silent” on abortion and same-sex marriage.

Jesus was a radical.  As the nun said, he associated with the poor, the sick, the insane, and the despised.  He also said things like, “If you have two coats, give one to him who has none.”  Sounds socialist to me!

We should all be behind these Nuns…..they have the right ideas.

Why isn’t the Vatican surrounding these nuns with blessings instead of speaking against them.  Why so threatened. Something is not right……

  • David Kerlick

Jesus would have as much luck with the Vatican as he did with the high priests of his day.

These nuns are doing more to tell the truth about the Ryan budget than any Democratic politician I know. If were Obama I’d give Sister Simone a metal.

Hmm.  I think you mean medal.  Let’s hope so.

    Yay, Sister. You go girl.

Yes, go Sr. Simone and “the nuns on the bus!”  Tell it like it is……..thanks to Colbert for being radical enough to invite her to share on his show.

the vatican should be applauding these nuns not condemning them.

You’ve sure got it right.  You can’t go wrong following Jesus’  example.  That certainly should be the message of the church.  Instead the church has been duped by Republicans into thinking that they would protect life and have joined with evangelists.  How can a party that enables corporations to destroy life, be protecting life. Corporations want no regulation so they are free to exploit people and the planet and  turn it into a toxic wasteland that is unfit for human habitation.  Global  corporations owe no allegiance to any country, and they have no god except the Almighty Dollar.

Socialism says, if you have two coats give them to the government and they will decide who gets them.  Jesus was speaking to the individual and told us to give a coat to an individual not to the government.  Big difference in my mind.

    Go get ‘em sisters!

ah yes Paul Ryan, another manufactured expert with little or no expertise.
